YangTze Law, the London office, has been set up in co-operation with the Exeter-based law firm Michelmores. The Michelmores managing partner, Malcolm Dickinson, is also the chief executive of YangTze Law. The Chinese office was given an ABS (Alternative Business Structure) licence in May by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. It says that it is also the first law firm which is wholly owned by the Chinese to open in the UK.

New market

Steve Ng, one of the founders of YangTze Law, said: 'We are not here to step on anyone’s toes but to expand Chinese participation in the UK market. YangTze Law will fulfil a need that has not previously been met by the UK legal market and, over the near to long term, will help to unlock the door for a new group of Chinese investors.'
