Expecting and new moms have plenty of reasons to be nervous and excited all at the same time. That's where social media can help, by helping network them with moms who have been through those trials already. Social media can also help new moms share photos and track their newborn on his or her journey through life.

If you have another tool or piece of advice for expecting moms, be sure to add it to the comments!

CafeMom is one of the premiere social networks for mothers. It's a friendly place to share experiences, war stories, and help mothers-to-be calm their nerves. It has a section for blogging about anything, answering questions, and posting pictures of the kids.

Good for: Networking with moms and helping answer the questions of moms-to-be

2. About My Baby

If you know a newly christened mother, then might be interested in About My Baby, a great way to share online media featuring your newborns. It's highly customizable and is an easy way to track stats like height, age, the first time he or she walks, etc. There's a free version and a pro version, which retails for $50 a year.

4. BabyCenter

BabyCenter is part Yahoo! answers, part Flickr, and part kid quotes. Start up a baby journal or create a photoclub. And of course, you can share the strange and wonderful things that kids say via babycenter. As a bonus, any use of the Twitter hashtag #kidism is also imported into the BabyCenter community.
