Weekly Update
2/3/10
Greetings Riders,
It is really hard to believe that we
have already burned through one month of 2010 already. Before we
even know it, prime riding time will be upon us. Not too long until the yellow
flowers will be blooming in the desert and the rides to Tortilla Flat and
Bartlett Lake will be spectacular. I would also like to point out that the
budget cuts in the State of Arizona have also hit some of the State Parks.
In all, 13 State Parks will close leaving 9 parks to remain open. One in
particular that is a good ride destination from the Valley is Tonto
Natural Bridge. This park will be closing on
June 3rd. Until then it will be on a 5 day schedule, being closed on Tuesday and
Wednesday. I would recommend planning a ride up there some time before it
closes. Click Here for the Cyclerides.com Day
Ride Feature of Tonto
Natural Bridge. Click Here for all park
closings.
The Bike Night at Westgate City
Center was extremely popular last year and will be back again this year. I would like to officially announce today that the start
date of the Westgate Bike Night is going to be on Thursday, March 18th.
Westgate is very excited to be hosting this event again this year and we have
already had meetings for the programming of this event over the next few
months. The Westgate Bike Night will run for 16 weeks and end on July 1st. Once
again we will be featuring Live Bands occasionally, Motorcycle Videos, Vendors,
Food and Drink Specials at the restaurants and Special Guests. Make plans
to attend the first night as I am working on a music video with photos
of people who attended last year to be played on the giant LED screen the
first night. So mark your calendar for Thursday, March 18th and stay tuned for
more information. Photos
from last year. We have limited space for vendors and sponsors. If
you would like to do either, please contact me at info@cyclerides.com .
For those of you on the East side of
town, we are continuing work to bring back the Historic Downtown
Chandler Bike Night. This was a very popular event last for the
those in the Southeast Valley area and we would love to do it again this spring.
But at this time, we are currently waiting on approval from the City to properly
close the street to make this event safer and more desirable. I will keep
in touch with you to let you know the progress of "if" and when that will
happen. Projected start date would be mid March as well.
Urban bike nights, Sturgis
Style, seem to be a popular concept right now. Downtown Mesa
is starting a once per month event called "Motorcycles on Main" presented by
Chester's Harley-Davidson. This will be a once per month bike night
on Friday nights. The first one will be this Friday, February 5th from 6pm
- 10pm. This bike night will feature motorcycle parking on 2 blocks of
Main St. in Mesa to the East of Country Club Dr., 4 Beer Gardens with
food, 4 Live Band Stages and several restaurants in the area providing
dining in the area. There has been a big void in things to do on
a Friday night with motorcycles. I think this will be a very fun event
to look forward to on the first Friday of every month. Take a ride out
to Mesa this Friday to check it out. Next month will be on Friday, March 5th.
See you there!
This time of year the event calendar
on Cyclerides.com starts to grow pretty fast. Arizona Bike Week is
only a couple of months away and some of the entertainment from the dealerships
has begun to be announced for the first weekend of Bike Week. Chester's
Harley-Davidson Backstage Biker Bash is
going to have 2 Live concerts this year at the dealership. On Friday night,
April 9th, is Jackyl with opening band Road Rage. And the headliner on
Saturday night, April 10th, is an old time favorite The Marshall Tucker Band,
with the Cadillac Angels opening. This should be a good time. Saturday, April
10th during the day from 11am - 8pm, The Buddy Stubbs Bike Week Bash will feature Live Music with Capital Down, valley
favorite EastonAshe and Harry Luge. Arizona Bike Week's entertainment
calendar is set and will feature 4 bands at Cyclefest including Vince Neil,
Ratt, Dierks Bentley and George Throrgood from April 14th - 18th. More
information on AZ Bike Week in the next few
weeks.
I am also personally working on a
couple of other Cyclerides events that I think you will enjoy. So stay tuned to the newsletter for announcements. There will be lots of
things happening over the next couple of months. If you know of a rider who is
not currently taking the Cyclerides.com Weekly Update that is now being sent to
over 8100 riders, please forward this to them and have them sign up at http://www.cyclerides.com/emailletter.htm. You can also receive mid week updates at the Cyclerides.com
Facebook. I will be using this for cool things to do on weekends or
during Bike Week. You can become a fan at the new Facebook address,
www.facebook.com/cycleridescom.
FYI, I have had several inquiries on
the Rocky Point Rally for this Fall. The dates for the 10th Anniversary are
November 4-7, 2010.

Video of the Week
Jump out of a plane WITHOUT a parachute??
Even though
this was calculated to work ahead of time, there was still a few things that
could have gone wrong. For instance, what if they hit heads and knocks
one of them out? Or can't get the belt attached. Some good drama
here. Click Here to View. Click on the
