Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
12/18/13

Greetings Riders,

Well, just when I thought that our country had sunk as low as it could go with, sequestration, a disaster of a health care system, budget battles and government shutdowns, I look on Facebook to see that A&E has dismissed Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty! For comments made in a GQ magazine interview? What’s next?? I’m sure that didn’t make him very “Happy, Happy, Happy”. But for all of us, it will be interesting to see how A&E handles the slippery slope they are on with this one. Do they continue with the Multi-million dollar number one show with over 2000 licensed products that is Duck Dynasty with Phil? Or do they succumb to the PC pressures of their advertisers? Does the rest of the family leave the show in support of their father? Should be interesting. Stay tuned. . .

If you have checked your Facebook page in the last 36 hours you might have seen this graphic on a post from the Cyclerides.com FB Page and a headline that read like this:

Phoenix Bikefest at Wild Horse Pass and Casino, April 4-6, 2014. Be one of the first to roll through Arizona's FIRST and only Ride Through Bar. Free Admission. Vendors, Demo's, Live Music and Headliner bands on Friday and Saturday nights.

That post was viewed by over 10,000 people and had 155 Shares. An incredible amount of shares from a single post for sure, which tells me that there is a lot of interest from the riding community in a new event. So what is Phoenix Bikefest? The following is the top portion of the Press Release for the event.

First Ever Phoenix Bikefest Roars into 2014
Fri. – Sun., April 4-6, at Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino
A New Experience for Arizona Motorcycle Enthusiasts

Chandler, Ariz. (Dec. 17, 2013) – Area Harley-Davidson® Dealers deliver a roaring first-ever Phoenix Bikefest Fri., April 4 – Sun., April 6, 2014, to the site of Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino.  The FREE event welcomes riders, spectators and enthusiasts to explore the world of motorcycles, clothing, gear, design and much more.

Valley Harley-Davidson dealers including Arrowhead Harley-Davidson®, Buddy Stubbs Harley-Davidson®, Chandler Harley-Davidson®Chester’s Harley-Davidson®, Superstition Harley-Davidson® and RideNow Powersports along with Barry Caraway of Cyclerides.com present a roaring inaugural spectacle of food, music and good times in the form of Phoenix Bikefest, produced by R Entertainment Company.  Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino hosts the event at its new high-profile festival grounds adjacent to I-10 Freeway, in Chandler, Ariz.

“We are excited to bring the riding community together for a free event thanking our loyal customers for their continued support.  This is an event solely with the customer’s wishes in mind at a venue with unlimited potential,” said Jack Stubbs of Buddy Stubbs Harley-Davidson®. . . Click Here to read the entire Press Release.
One of the highlights of the event that I think is really cool will be Arizona’s first-ever “ride-through bar,” serving as gateway entry to the event that naturally creates a parade of arriving bikes, which onlookers can enjoy throughout the day. You will enter the venue and follow an asphalt road made specifically for entry into the venue that will take you through the bar where you will get your picture taken and emailed to you for free. You will ride through the bar, go park, and come back to enjoy the fun. There will be live music, food and drink in the bar with tiered level seating and a bar rail for people to stand and watch the bikes roll through from the different rides coming in from around the valley. There will also be open seating on both sides with tables, chairs and umbrellas that will create an even longer line of onlookers that I’m sure will be needed. Can’t wait to see this in action!

I have always wanted to see an event in Arizona where the rider could be part of the entertainment of the venue. The concept will be similar to what we do at the Cyclerides.com Westgate Bike Night where we are all part of the show as we ride down Coyote Blvd., only with a more intimate environment for everyone to congregate. I think the ride through bar is going to become the place to be to watch all of the riders coming in to enjoy the event.

Not only will there be the ride through bar that will start your experience at Phoenix Bikefest, it is free to enter. Weekend highlights also include food, drink, vendors of all kinds, a Bike Show with prize money and live music throughout the day.  If you would like to stay for the evening concert national headliner, there would be an admission for that. So that you are not totally spent after a day of riding and enjoying Phoenix Bikefest activities, scheduled time for evening headliner concerts are at 6 PM. Stay tuned for our first headliner announcement. More details to come.

In addition, this first-ever Phoenix Bikefest will serve as an exciting demonstration showcase -- fire up the new 2014 lineup of your favorite motorcycles and demo Side x Sides on the famous Lucas off-road track.  Even watercraft activity is in the works. Test ride the latest and greatest in the motorcycle industry, including the new 2014 Harley-Davidson lineup, the 2014 Can-Am Spyder RT and well as many other motorcycle brands including Indian Motorcycle, BMW, Aprilia, Ducati, KTM, Moto Guzzi, Triumph, Can Am, Polaris, Suzuki, Yamaha, Spyder, Honda and Kawasaki.

Guests can stroll and enjoy the event grounds as well as the adjacent 100,000 square foot Wild Horse Pass Casino. Camping is available and well as lodging in the hotel. There is a special Phoenix Bikefest rate at the Wildhorse Pass Hotel and Casino that is located right next to the venue. But rooms are limited. If interested, call 520-796-7777 to reserve your room.

So it looks riders are going to have a lot of choices this year. Not only will you have the ongoing Arizona Bike Week in Scottsdale, but you will have the Cave Creek Rally in Cave Creek as well as the Phoenix Bikefest at Wild Horse Pass all at the same time. I can see a lot of riding between these events which will be good for everyone. The Phoenix Bikefest Headliner entertainment will not conflict with ABW which will make it possible to do both. If the old adage is true that “the rising waters will lift all boats”, hopefully this will attract even more out of town riders back to Arizona with more opportunities available.
