Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
11/10/10

Greetings Riders,

Well, believe it or not, it is now November 10th and for the first time since March, I actually had to go find my jacket to take a ride. Looks like the cool weather that we have been wanting has finally made its way into the valley. In fact it looks like cool off is getting serious as the forecast is for a high of 61 next Saturday. Better put down the remote and go find those leathers. Time to start filling the saddle bags with those layering type of clothing for the next few months. Enjoy it while you can.

If you missed the newsletter last week about our visit and tour of Hoover Dam and the new Bypass Bridge, Click Here. This would make a very good overnight ride or long day ride. There are over 100 great photos from both the air and the ground. Click Here for Photos and Video.

It is hard to believe, but it is only 45 days till Christmas. I guess part of the reason that it is hard to believe is that with the extended warm temperatures we have had this year, it seems like Summer just ended. So with 2010 quickly coming to an end, I want to highlight a couple of events that I will be doing to close out the year.

The last Cyclerides.com/Westgate Bike Night for this year will be this Thursday, November 11th from 5pm - 10pm. On this final night of the year we have a couple of special events going on. First of all, we chose this particular Thursday because it is Veterans Day. Being a strong supporter of the military and our Veterans, I thought this would be a good opportunity for all of us to honor our military Veterans and thank them for their service. To do this, I have asked the Patriot Guard Riders if they would ride into Coyote Blvd. at 7pm with flags proudly flying so that we could all participate in honoring our military and Veterans by taking part in playing the National Anthem utilizing the LED screen at Westgate, followed by a video presentation of "America The Beautiful". This should be a wonderful opportunity for all of us to show our support of those who have stood in the gap for this great country of ours. I would like to be the first to say "Thank You Veterans!"

I am proud to announce that Westgate is the first site on the West side of the Valley to display the recently completed Arizona Centennial Copper Chopper motorcycle designed and built by Paul Yaffe Originals. If you haven't seen this motorcycle in person, I would highly suggest that you take this opportunity to get a full 360 degree look at this beautiful one of a kind motorcycle. This is a stunning work of motorcycle art capturing the essence of Arizona and constructed with copper that was mined right here in the State of Arizona. The Copper Chopper will be displayed in center court for all to see from 5pm - 10pm on Thursday, November 11th at Westgate during bike night. Bring your camera. Paul Yaffe will also be there to answer your questions about the Copper Chopper. The Centennial will have a booth on site where you will be able to buy the raffle tickets for $5 to win this bike that will be given away on February 14th, 2012.

The 8 piece Urban Roots band will once again be playing a great blend of classic Motown Rhythm and Blues. There will be more vendors than ever before to help close out the Cyclerides.com/Westgate Bike Night for this year. On behalf of Cyclerides.com and Westgate City Center, we want to thank you for your incredible support of this bike night throughout 2010. We had a great time putting it on and we hope you enjoyed it as well. Stay tuned to the newsletter for when we will start it again sometime in March of 2011. To close out the year, I am going to have a Westgate pictorial page to end the year. Email me a couple of your favorite pictures from bike night and I will add them to the pictorial page for you to share with your friends. Send them to info@cyclerides.com . It might be a cooler ride home, but it should be worth it. I look forward to seeing you this Thursday night. See details below.

The Cyclerides.com Toys To Kids ride will be held on Saturday, December 11th this year. For the last 8 years I have done this ride on the first Saturday of December, but this year I could not get the kids on that date. So we moved it to the 11th. once again be held at Westgate City Center. As usual, we will be bussing in 100 kids as we have done before. I would like to thank Arizona Bikeweek for offering to pay for the bus transportation for the kids this year. The program will include live entertainment, music and Saddle Ranch will be serving breakfast that morning starting at 9am. The program for the kids will start at 11am. As always, after being fed and entertained, the kids will be able to pick any 3 gifts from the toys that you bring while they are there. I look forward once again to make this a very special day for these kids and for the riders who faithfully participate.

A nice little addition to the event this year is that there is also going to be a big Hot Rod and Classic Car show going on at Westgate from 10am - 3pm the same day. There is also going to be a farmers market at Westgate at the same time, so there will be plenty to do before and after the toy event. More information will be coming next week which will include what kind of toys to bring, etc. Click Here for flyer. I look forward to once again making this a great day for the kids and the riders who participate.
