Greetings Riders,

Well, the weather is treating us well for this early in May. I actually like the low 90’s when it is this dry. And it looks like we going to have smooth sailing for the rest of the month according to this extended forecast. From the looks of this, it is time take advantage of this while we have it. We have been spending more time in the air than on the ground lately, so I think it is time for a little road trip to get ready for the longer ones this Summer. I mentioned in the newsletter last week about the Beach Boys playing in concert at the Pepsi Amphitheater in Flagstaff. It is past time to get the bikes out for an extended ride, so the more I thought about it, the more it made some sense to incorporate that afternoon concert into a day long ride. The weather is supposed to be sunny all the way with a perfect riding high of 72 degrees in Flagstaff. If you add that all up. Sunny + 72 degrees + nothing better to do on a Sunday = ROAD TRIP!!

We were always taught that the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. Technically that is true, but the guy who came up with that must not have been a motorcycle rider. While it might be the shortest distance, doesn’t mean it is the best route. We live on the West side, so we will be going through Wickenburg, up 89A through Prescott continuing on up 89A to Jerome for a giant burger at the Haunted Hamburger or on down to the Tavern Grill in Cottonwood for some of their great Mac & Cheese. Just depends on how much energy I have expended by the time I get there.

After lunch we will do the last leg on 89A through Sedona and then up the beautiful Oak Creek Canyon to I-17 where we will complete our first leg of 187 miles and be virtually at our destination of Tuthill Park and Fairgrounds for the concert. Looking forward to some “Good Vibrations” both on the bike and at the concert. After a warm up band, The Beach Boys should probably take the stage by 3:00 PM and be done around 4:30 ish. We will then just hop on I-17 and take the ride back down the hill culminating a nice 315 mile ride day that includes a Beach Boys concert along the way. Can’t beat that! If you live on the East side and want to do something similar, I would recommend taking Hwy. 87 up through Payson and then 87/260 on up through Campe Verde to Cottonwood where you could make a brief jog over to Jerome before following 89A back up to Flagstaff. Click Here for that Map.

**This Thursday night is “Rat Rod” night at the Cyclerides.com Westgate Bike Night presented by Arrowhead HD and Ridenow Powersports. Ride in to see some of the best Rat Rod cars and motorcycles in the Valley from on display in center court. See John Shope’s latest Rat Rod creation as well as the new rat rod inspired motorcycle built for Mark Bradshaw at the Hideaway. **The Run For The Wall 2013 will again be coming through Phoenix on their way to Washington, DC. If you would like to see them or wave flags in encouragement of their cause, the following are the details:

We are scheduled to leave our Tonopah gas stop at 4:15 pm May 15th under DPS Escort to arrive in Tolleson about 5:15 PM. Any of the I-10 overpasses would be good places to be to welcome the riders and wave flags. We will be at the Victory Inn at 1520 N 84th Drive, Tolleson on the evening of the 15th, and will be leaving there on the 16th at 8:00 am, again escorted by DPS, to go through Phoenix. Cyclerides.com Westgate Bike Night this Spring being presented by Arrowhead Harley-Davidson and Ridenow Powersports. Bike Night began Thursday night, March 28th with a HUGE crowd and will continue for a total of 14 nights ending on June 27th from 5 pm – 9 pm. This Thursday, you will once again be able to enjoy a party every Thursday night with Live Music, Vendors, Restaurants, parking on Coyote Blvd. next to the fountains and Hundreds of motorcycles to look at as they cruise by. This is the place to be on Thursday nights for sure.
