Cyclerides.com Weekly
Update
5/1/13
Greetings Riders,
I would like to start this week with a shout out to all of the Women riders
in celebration of the
International
Female Ride Day this Friday. Their only request for women is to “Just Ride”.
There seems to be more women than ever hopping off of the back and
riding their own motorcycles. It is so cool to see women riding these big
baggers just as good as the men. In fact, I ride with one of those women all the
time, and she keeps up with me no problem. Keep it going ladies, I love seeing
you out there enjoying yourself. Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale is having a ride
for women to celebrate the day starting at 4:30 PM from the dealership.

This past Sunday was Mrs. C’s birthday. Since we are both Country music
fans,
I decided to take her to one of the last 2 shows of Tim
McGraw and Faith Hill at the Venetian
in Las Vegas. We had heard so much about this show and how good it
was, that we thought we better see it before it closes. They did not disappoint
as it was a tremendous show, done in true Vegas style, in an unbelievable room
at the Venetian. Since this was a smaller room and more intimate, they
interacted with the crowd much more than they would at a typical stadium venue.
They even sat down on chairs in the middle of the stage and took questions from
the audience, and Tim even jumped off the stage while singing and walked a lap
around the lower level shaking hands and posing for pictures. It was a really
cool thing to see from mega stars.
But there was one really neat moment that the crowd will remember for a
long while. While Tim was doing his songs this guy on the left side
in about row 4 kept holding up a green sign that had Louisiana hand written on
it with a magic marker. Tim McGraw happens to be from a small town in Louisiana
so he took note of the sign mentioning it from the stage. After a couple of
songs later, he called the guy up on stage and asked him his name and where he
was from. He told him his name and town which happened to be the small town next
to his. Tim said, “I know you”. Aren’t you married to Mandy’s sister. The guy
said yes, she is sitting right there.
After a few more words of catching up on the old town, Tim took off his
guitar, signed it and gave it to the guy,
then posed for pictures
with him on stage. It was just a cool moment to see a big music star take the
time to interact with the crowd and do something so kind and memorable for this
man. Besides that, the music was phenomenal and the show was excellent. Almost
like seeing them in your living room. If they come back to Vegas, which by the
looks of the sell out crowds it is very possible, I would highly recommend their
show. (See

Saturday we slept in Vegas style. (those electric blackout drapes are the
best)
Then walked up to the Sugar Factory on the strip and got an
outdoor table overlooking the sidewalk for lunch. After an hour of that, I’m
going to say that Vegas has to be the best people watching place maybe anywhere.
The clothes, costumes, hair styles, hair colors and general craziness is like no
other. It is really a hoot to just sit and watch the people go by. You can
certainly tell that when they land it Las Vegas, it is an escape and their life
as they know it has been put on hold for at least 48 hours. Pretty funny stuff.
We were then on down to the Harley-Davidson
Café to see the decorations. If you haven’t been there, it is
definitely worth the stop if for nothing else to see the giant
flag on the wall made out of chains.
Our next stop was to see the new
Cosmopolitan
Hotel across the street.
This place is over the top like all of
the other hotels on the strip but is definitely slanted toward the younger
crowd. Check out this party pool that they have which is located 4 stories above
and overlooking the strip. (See
Pool Pics)
It was getting later in the afternoon so we headed back to the hotel to
catch our 7PM show
at the Venetian called “Human Nature”. No, this
is not a National Geographic documentary, it is a musical group of 4 guys from
Australia that do nothing but Motown songs. If you like Motown, this is the show
you must see. It has been rated as a top 5 show and probably has the best
closing 30 minutes of entertainment on the strip right now. The show is produced
by Smokey Robinson which incorporates some video interaction with him as well.
Go see it! (See
Pics)
We saw 2 excellent shows and Mrs. C. had a great birthday.
Vegas is a cool escape, but it goes too fast and reality is still just around
the corner. Another couple of show recommendations are “The Jersey Boys” and the
Beatles
“Love” show at the Mirage. This is an excellent Cirque show set to
Beatles music.
For those of you that have ridden to Bagdad, AZ, here are some
cool aerial pictures of the city and the mine that sustains the city.
All photo’s were taken with my Galaxy S3 Phone.

**A friend of the motorcycle community, Shelley Parrish went
down on the 202 Fwy. last week. She has had prayer warriors around the clock and
is doing better, but from the pictures I have seen on FB, she got banged up
pretty good. There will be a Fund Raising Event on Friday, May 3, at 8:30 pm at
the Blooze Bar on 32nd Street and Cactus. If you have something of value to
donate for an auction it would be appreciated.
**Looks like Harley-Davidson is ceasing production of 6 motorcycles
including the Road King, Road Glide Custom and Road Glide Ultra. Wonder
what they are going to replace them with?? Click Here for story.
