Democrats filed a new ethics charge against House Speaker Newt Gingrich, accusing him of taking an illegal gift of free cable TV time worth up to $200,000. -- February 24, 1995

The reviews of Laura's published book are terrific. Obviously descriptions of erotica sell. I've sent a copy of the book to Marcia at Oxford. As a Marshall Scholar near the end of her two years she's busy deciding what to do next. She'll email me her opinion of the book.

Imagine Judith reading such a book 80-some years ago? Unheard of. After coming to America she would probably no longer cover her head the way Orthodox married women did in Europe, but modesty would still be important.

Judith's Story

November 11, 1918

"Come, come, you must take a glass of shnapps. Can you not hear the bells ringing? The war is over."

Chaim grabbed her around the shoulders and tried to waltz her into the kitchen.

"Chaim, stop that. I have only just risen from shiva yesterday. This is not proper."

He stopped, his arms still around her. "I cannot help it. My heart is full of joy."

She could feel his joy rubbing through her dress. It had been so long since she had felt that in a man.  Jacob had come home so weak from the gas that he had no longer reached for her.

She pulled out of Chaim's arms. "You will wake the children. They need their rest."

"Yes, they are still weak from the flu. But thank God they are fine. It is only because Jacob was so weak from the gas that the flu killed him."

"No, Chaim. It is an epidemic. People are dying all over the world. I thank God every night that He spared the children."

Chaim crushed her to his chest. "We will make more children. We will have sons."

He pressed his lips against hers. She pulled away.

"Jacob, we must wait until we are married."

His hand twisted her dress collar. "I cannot wait. I am too happy. The war is over and you will finally be mine. Tonight."
